This was our team’s first meeting for the FIRST GLOBAL CHALLENGE 2018 we started by getting to know every member of the team. After we got to know each other we watched the challenge video and started talking about different mechanism for each part of the challenge. We decided that first we should build the base of robot. We decided on making a omni directional drive as that would allow our robot to move in all directions more easily.
After constructing the drive we started working on a mechanism to turn the windmill we thought of a simple mechanism consisting of a motor and two extrusions so we could turn the windmill efficiently.
After constructing the windmill mechanism we started thinking about how we could go about collecting cubes efficiently. We thought of creating a mechanism using chain and wheels to pick up the power and fuel cubes. The first problem we ran into was that we needed a way to invert the chain so that both of the railways would be moving either inwards or outwards. We solved this problem by inverting the chain so the two gears that connect to the mechanism move in the opposite direction so its able to pick up and able to let go of the cubes.
